They need "passionate and creative" Web development Engineers with between 3 and 5 years' experience developing large-scale Web applications in environments using Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET (and Classic ASP), SQL Server, and JavaScript. TEN: Boston client with nice benefits package and good comp seeks a database applications programmer to support the development of applications for a department of over 200 clinicians and administrators. They’re looking for a proficient Java programmer who knows how to build Web apps, speaks SQL (preferably the Oracle dialect), and knows how to work with a diverse group of users. The technical skills are a must. But equally, if not more important, are the “soft” skills – the ability to think through problems and be intellectually flexible; the patience to listen and to communicate not only with technical staff, but with clinicians and administrators who know their job but don’t have the time to learn yours; the wisdom to pick technologies because they are right for the job, not because they are the latest and greatest; and the ability to stay focused and calm in the middle of a fast-paced, always changing, complex environment. These skills will be used to focus on a variety of projects. Responsibilities will include some maintenance and enhancement of existing systems but the emphasis will be on new development. Strong candidates will need to be self-motivated because work can be independent, but will also need to be team oriented because work will involve collaboration with users and others in our group. As part of a group of seven developers within an 11-person team, the candidate must be able to handle the full life cycle of a multi-phased project. You’ll get support, but you need to be able to do some of everything from initial analysis through coding and testing to support and maintenance. Qualifications: · A minimum of 3-4 years database application development experience in Java is required. · Experience with Web application development is required. · Experience with a SQL database is required, preferably Oracle. · Strong customer service focus and excellent communication skills. · Please consider forwarding this epistle to any friends, family or colleagues for whom this would be a nice career move. I have a the highest regard for the man running the show; they have been profitable throughout the recession.
