Our client is a private company based in London owned by its 90+ staff and a minority (15%) shareholding by one client. They are profitable, cash positive, and are growing.

They provide a subscription service that allows brokers and their clients to screen and evaluate the performance of their trade ideas, a process known as alpha capture; it has become the leader in this market attracting over 200 sell-side and 100 buy-side firms globally. The service has a strong following globally, but there is significant potential for growth.

They also have a subscription service that allows funds of hedge funds and their administrators to manage their hedge fund portfolios. It provides tools for front and middle office managers within Funds. The service is integrated with administrators accounting and other systems to improve the service they provide to their fund customers, and improve their internal work flow

What you will do:

Their systems are written in Java, Javascript, Scala and Groovy/Grails; however they use and contribute to open source technologies such as Apache Tomcat, Hibernate, and MySQL.

They use agile development techniques and tools such as test-driven development, pair programming, and continuous integration, adapting these to needs as necessary at regularly held retrospectives involving developers, operators, support staff, and senior product owners. They are committed to on-going training during slack time and regularly scheduled coding dojos (see http://www.codingdojo.org/).

They have an active research program focused on improving and expanding our core technology.
Teams work interactively with customers and with internal business analysts.

B) Agile QA / Test Developer

The Job

As an outstanding Agile QA / Test Developer you will use your demonstrable success and interest in both writing code and testing software. You will design, build and maintain a robust framework for running automated tests and carry out exploratory testing where computers just can't cut it and that personal touch is required.

Essential Attributes / Skills:

·Ability to program in a relevant language (e.g., Java, Python) in a commercial environment

· Prior QA knowledge combined with a demonstrable interest in test

· Coach testing techniques and working with developers

· Design efficient, thorough test plans for software features

· Can design and build automated tests

· Experience (or at least interest) in working in an Agile environment

· Ability to work with different people and switch context quickly

· Diligence

Ideal Attributes:

· Analyzes software failures and identifies root causes and actions to address those causes

· Designs, implements, and analyzes non-functional tests

· Can conduct or help to conduct high-volume performance testing and tuning exercises.

· Effectively use tools such as Selenium, Hudson/Jenkins, Team City, and JUnit

· Can write effective and maintainable Java code

· Can effectively use mocking frameworks (JMock, Mockito)

· Prior finance experience / knowledge

· Management of small ad hoc groups

4) Here is one more opening - for folks with managerial experience in the defense or homeland security engineering arena. I'll provide all details if you are interested (or can pass this along to), but in essence you will manager people who have multiple technical disciplines; you will focus on defining customer needs and required functionality early in the development cycle, documenting requirements, then proceeding with design synthesis and system validation while considering the complete problem. You should have most of this shopping list: a Bachelor's degree + 10 years experience, Masters degree + 7 years experience, a degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical or other engineering discipline, in coordinating technical resources of varying disciplines to successfully complete development tasks, experience with analytical systems development and/or with government qualification processes a strong plus.

5) We would like to talk with a senior scientist with higher degrees/background in chemistry or physics, preferably the latter, along with at least eight years' experience in research and development in the areas of atmospheric pressure ionization, ion mobility, and particle collection.
