RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for administration, maintenance and availability of enterprise Production SQL server environments including cluster and replication.
· Ensure backup and recoverability of all enterprise SQL server databases.
· Ensure data security. Define and implement database access control policies and procedures, complying with SOX and HIPAA requirements.
· Works with Data Architect on long term strategy to ensure integrated database systems. Advise on physical data model and implement changes.
· Responsible for capacity planning, working closely with Infrastructure group to allocate appropriate database resources on servers.
· Contribute to the ongoing development of technology and production processes company-wide. Keep abreast of new design tools, hardware, software, and technology and make recommendations for future deployment.
· Provide technical leadership. Mentor junior DBA’s on the team on database technical details. Provide technical assistance to developers.
· Monitor SQL server databases to ensure optimum performance, analyzing and resolving performance issues ensuring maximum uptime.
· Create and maintain quality control and auditing of databases.
· Develop and adhere to common database standards and procedures within a production operations unit. Maintain documentation related to database platforms, guidelines, methods and standards.
· Coordinate with technical project managers, developers and other team members to coordinate database requirements across projects.
· Triage/track outstanding issues, providing solutions to resolve defects and issues.

· Interact with business users verifying or helping to verify data integrity.
· Administer, maintain and support QA and development environments.

· Document and improve existing processes related to operations and daily work.
EXPERIENCE
· 6 years of experience in SQL Server 2008, 2008R2, 2005, including replication.
· Installation, configuration, maintenance and performance tuning of SQL server and clusters.
· Demonstrated ability using database monitoring tools.
· Experience in full SDLC.
· Strong problem solving skills in virtualize database environments.
· Ability to be proactive and work well under pressure
· 8 years of experience in IT
· SQL certification desired.
Will mentor junior DBA’s.

Position Summary
The Director, IT Global eCommerce Architecture sets strategic direction for eCommerce architecture globally at this well-known client, overseeing a team of ~10 experienced architects that establish the technical roadmap to deliver business initiatives, create and maintain software best practices, support and promote R&D and innovation and foster a culture of continuous improvement. These architects also serve as IT’s service delivery engagement leaders to the business for new initiatives, and they are responsible for aligning projects to business and IT strategy. The Director leads the continued evolution of websites and mobile platforms which collectively create an Internet worldwide presence.
In addition to relevant technical experience, the ability to work effectively across other IT functions and to understand and communicate in business terms is critical to this role.will provide input to the overall eCommerce and mobile strategic direction and are accountable for translating and communicating the plans to the teams for tactical execution.
You must have an excellent working knowledge of current and planned IT initiatives as well as internal and external technology trends. You will often participates in both business and IT steering committees and will usually be the focal point for the relationship with the client base, while ensuring that IT plans are implemented successfully, business benefits are achieved, and that there is alignment to global eCommerce and enterprise architecture standards. The Director also maintains strong working relationships with vendors and ensures that our client receives the value for contracted services.
Experience and Skill Requirements
· 10-15 years of technical experience, including several years in an architecture role.
· 6 - 8 years of overall management experience.
· Proven track record in effectively leading software development teams of six or more.
· Proficiency presenting to, communicating with, and advising senior management.
· Experience with high volume, high availability implementations of Java Enterprise Edition technologies (eCommerce is preferable).
· Experience with IBM WebSphere Commerce and/or Websphere Application Server experience is a strong plus.
· Agile experience (particularly Scrum) is a plus.
· Online security experience is a plus.
Education Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems Management
· Masters Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, and/or an MBA, is a plus
